Vocational Learning Program
Work Based Learning Program
SFWP offers a work-based learning program for individuals with diverse abilities. Support is tailored to individual needs, often in a group setting with assistance from staff, teachers, or caregivers. The program promotes supervised social interaction and inclusive business operations in a secure, welcoming environment.
Spotlight Abilities Over Disabilities to Empower Individuals
Our Story
We began in Covid May 2020 to offer employment and life skills for our son Peanut, unaware of God's greater plans. With growth, we chose faith, leaving our jobs to run a family business full-time. In late 2021, we opened our first location and in Jan 2022, we began hosting students from CCISD H.E.A.R.T.S program (Helping Each Adult Reach Transitional Services). Looking ahead to 2025, we now have three classes visiting our facility weekly.
Our Mission and Goal is to support individuals with diverse abilities in developing life skills, vocational training, and positive social interaction.
Work-based educational experiences offer numerous benefits for learners, including:
- **Practical Application:** Learners can apply theoretical knowledge in real-world settings, reinforcing their understanding and skills.
- **Skill Development:** These experiences help develop both hard skills specific to a job and soft skills like communication, teamwork, and problem-solving.
- **Industry Exposure:** Learners gain insights into industry practices, trends, and expectations, which can enhance their employability.
- **Networking Opportunities:** Engaging in work-based learning allows students to connect with professionals in their field, potentially leading to mentorship and job opportunities.
- **Confidence Building:** Practical experiences help learners build confidence in their abilities as they navigate real work environments.
- **Career Exploration:** It provides a chance to explore different career paths and make informed decisions about future employment.
- **Enhanced Motivation:** Being involved in meaningful work can increase motivation and engagement in the learning process.
- **Feedback and Improvement:** Learners receive direct feedback from employers and colleagues, allowing them to identify areas for improvement and growth.
- **Portfolio Development:** Work-based experiences contribute to a professional portfolio, showcasing skills and accomplishments to future employers.
- **Transition to Employment:** These experiences often ease the transition from education to the workforce by familiarizing learners with workplace culture and expectations.
With your ongoing support, we aim to expand our program to more individuals in the future. If you have any questions about our program, feel free to contact us by email: hello@stayfreshtx.com.
